The EDSA Busway Kamuning Station project is a major modernization effort aimed at replacing the infamous "Mt. Kamuning" footbridge with a more accessible, world-class transit facility.

Replacing "Mt. Kamuning": The old, steep footbridge (notorious for its 9-meter height) is being replaced by a safer, lower-profile structure.
Accessibility Upgrades: Unlike the old stairs, the new station and footbridge will feature:
2 High-capacity Elevators and 2 Wheelchair Lifts (manlifts) for PWDs, seniors, and pregnant women.
Tactile Paving to assist visually impaired commuters.
Vertical Louvers for shade and weather protection.
Station Rehabilitation: The work includes new waiting sheds, upgraded railings, digital clocks, and improved lighting to enhance safety at night.
Modern Connectivity: The station was recently included in the "Free Wi-Fi for All" rollout (launched Jan 15, 2026), providing commuters with internet access while they wait.

Timeline: Completion was originally targeted for December 2025 but was moved to January 2026 to allow for final safety checks and the installation of steel components.
Recent Activity: In mid-January 2026, temporary road closures were implemented along EDSA Kamuning to facilitate the lifting and installation of the new pedestrian walkway's steel structures.
Current Access: While the station itself undergoes final rehabilitation, the EDSA Carousel buses continue to run 24/7, though they may temporarily bypass the Kamuning stop during specific late-night construction windows.
Why This Project Matters
The original "Mt. Kamuning" was widely criticized for being "inhumane" due to its extreme height (designed to clear MRT-3 power lines). The new design follows the "SM North Concourse" model, prioritizing a "seamless" connection between the street level and the busway.
