The BioStar team, in collaboration with members of the pilot SMEs and local equipment manufacturers, has developed a new biomass-fired boiler model to produce the heat needed to dry mangoes and power high-capacity commercial dryers.
The 90 kW boiler is fuelled by cashew nut shells. It supplies hot water (110°C) to one or more dryers, each with a capacity of over 300 kg of freshly cut fruit.
