This is the Red Triangle Snooker Club in Crosskeys, Newport, owned by the former World number 8 and Welsh snooker legend, Darren Morgan.
Darren first started playing here in 1983 and then found himself in a position to buy the club in 2002.
It’s a first-class environment with six snooker tables and a dedicated pool room. And the walls are a treasure trove of photos from Darren’s career as both a professional and amateur. The bulging trophy cabinets are testament to the great success he’s had in tournaments all over the world, including the Irish Masters in 1996, when he beat Steve Davis 9-8 in the final.
There’s a great photo of Darren with Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ronnie features on the century board with a 147.
And talking of 147s, the most famous of all was, of course, Ronnie’s 5-minute masterclass against Mick Price in 1997. But did you know that Ronnie faced a certain Darren Morgan in the next round and Darren would record one of the most famous wins of his career, coming out on top by 13 frames to 12.
Look out for a brilliant promotional photo for the Sweater Shop – here is the full list of players in that photo (clockwise from top left):
Nigel Bond, Mike Hallett, Stephen Hendry, Darren Morgan, Joe Johnson, Gary Wilkinson, Martin Clark.
There are some highlights from the Red Triangle’s Monthly Bash Finals Day but the competition really hots up in the Black Ball Finish, where Darren faces off against Dylan Emery.
Dylan won the 2020 Welsh Amateur Championship and has played on numerous events on the pro tour. And at 23 he still has time on his side to make a real impact in the game.
The black ball game with Darren is one not to miss.
