‘My favourite lyric on the album is in this song: ’your joy is my joy, your pain is my pain’ it reflects the idea that if one person suffers we all suffer, but if one person feels joy we all can too. I’ve always felt stronger and more self assured as part of a community that celebrates each other. Friends that share in your highs that are still totally there for you throughout the lows too.
Feeling truly understood and accepted as you are is invaluable in a world that is constantly raising the bar for what it means to be a ‘good person’ or deemed as ‘enough’. The world often feels overwhelmingly negative and hopeless. I wrote ‘State Of Mind’ in defiance of this - it’s about coming together, sharing our love and accepting our differences.
If whatever happens, we share a positive state of mind to be tolerant and kind then there is still hope for joy.

State Of Mind - ‘Adele’ meets ‘Coldplay’. This track explores a bigger and bolder sound from Hannah. Amongst the raw and real instruments there is also sub bass, soaring synths and an electronic drum beat. This new soundscape brings Hannah into a much more pop contemporary space. The vibrant and clean production gives the lyrics and song a sense of clarity throughout, and the perfect energy that’s required to support the uplifting and passionate lyrics. It builds and builds until it reaches a euphoric choral moment - with an exceptional and emotional vocal from Hannah. “Your joy is my joy, your pain is my pain” reflecting the earnest message that we’re all in it together. This is an exciting change from Hannahs usual more mellow folky roots and gives an insight into the musical world of the new album.
