This is my third session with the APC 40. I'm really enjoying this device. The way it is set up, it is helping me to explore functionality of Ableton that I had never thought about, even with midi keyboards. I've downgraded this video to 720p in hopes of better streaming until Youtube figures out its issues.

This session, I wanted to try out using the APC as a production unit, replacing sequencer editing. I took a moment to design some Reason 4 synths and drums to accompany the HTDA vox/guitars. I sequenced out very basic midi for each synth, in order to focus on using the APC in place of the sequencer to edit and further define each instrument's playback and automation.

I recorded the first beat without saving the midi, and now I only have the audio that was recorded into Ableton. However, the above link does contain the combinator fx patch essential to making the sound (it was just some cheesy factory soundbank drums running through it, anyway).

Hopefully you all enjoy the music, and maybe are able to make some cool sounds with the synths.

Next session, I plan on attempting to combine the APC with some live keyboard performance and see how that goes. I'll be spending the next week thinking about the musical direction.
