পঞ্চ সতীপীঠ খ্যাত বৈচিত্র্যময় ও ঐতিহ্যবাহী বীরভূমের মন্দির স্থাপত্য এবং তার অলঙ্করণ বাঙলার মন্দির স্থাপত্য শিল্পের অন্যতম শ্রেষ্ঠ নিদর্শন। জেলাসদর সিউড়ী থেকে ২৮ কিমি দূরে মহম্মদবাজার থানার অন্তর্গত জঙ্গলে ঘেরা বর্ধিষ্ণু গ্রাম গণপুর একদিকে সমৃদ্ধশালী অন্যদিকে মন্দিরময়। একগ্রামে প্রায় ৩০-৩৫ টি সুন্দর অলংকরণ বিশিষ্ট মন্দিরের অবস্থিতি বীরভূমের অন্য কোথাও দেখা যায় না। আর এই কারণে এগুলো অবিলম্বে সংরক্ষণের প্রয়োজন অনুভূত হয়।

Ganpur is a forested village on the Suri-Mallarpur National Highway in the Mallarpur block of Birbhum district. The village is known for its vast lush green forests. Ganapur is also called a temple village of Birbhum. Because there are 23 very ancient temples spread all over the village. Earlier, however, there were 46 temples here. However, the rest of the temples have been lost from time to time.
Ganapur is best known for its lush green forest. This magical forest is spread on both sides of Suri-Mallarpur National Highway. Many tourists visit here every year. There is also a forest bungalow here for their convenience. There is a narrow footpath inside the vast forest. Rows of shawls, mahua and teak can be seen on both sides. At first the jungle is a bit lighter. Later it penetrated deep into the forest. Once upon a time there were tigers here but it would not be a surprise. The people of the local tribal community travel all day in search of life and livelihood and collect shawl leaves, wood and honey from here.

** কিভাবে আসবেন - ট্রেনে চেপে চলে আসুন মল্লারপুর রেলওয়ে স্টেশন সেখান থেকে বাসে বা টোটো তে গনপুর যাওয়া যায়। এছাড়াও সিউড়ি বা রামপুরা থেকে বাসে আসা যায় এই গনপুরে সেখান থেকে টোটো তে গনপুর কালী মন্দির।
কিন্তু এখানে থাকবার বোধহয় খুব একটা ব্যবস্থা নেই ফিরে যেতে হবে আপনাকে চুরি বা রামপুরহাট কিংবা বোলপুরে সেই ক্ষেত্রে নিজের গাড়ি থাকলে সঙ্গে খুবই ভালো হয়।
