PIMS SALARY ISSUE UNBLOCKED AFTER KATH’S ULTIMATUM & NLTV EXPOSE

Just days after social activist and politician Er. Meshenlo Kath publicly issued a final ultimatum over the PIMS salary scandal in the Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection Department, the government has responded swiftly.


Speaking to NLTV today outside the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Forest Force, Kath confirmed that the Department issued a notification on July 3rd, one day after his televised interview with NLTV on July 2nd. The notification clearly states that PIMS numbers will now be assigned to NPSC recruited inspectors, effectively unblocking their salary process.


In NLTV’s earlier expose, Kath had accused the Department of misusing PIMS slots by assigning them to temporary staff, thereby denying salaries and recognition to those who had cleared the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) exams. He also flagged procedural lapses in how the recruitment requisition was sent to the NPSC, bypassing established norms.


His hard-hitting ultimatum which gave the Department just five days to act now seems to have succeeded in forcing movement.


Kath also touched upon the recent recruitment in the Forest Department. He referred to a recent RTI reply that revealed more vacancies exist than were advertised, a discovery that may prompt calls for an expanded recruitment drive in the future.


As the dust settles, this case stands as a reminder: when institutions fail, citizen activism backed by transparent journalism can still force accountability.
