Odds ratio: the ratio between the odds that an ill person (case) was exposed versus the odds that a healthy person (control) was exposed. So odds ratio = odds of exposure in ill group/odds of exposure in healthy group
Relative risk: the ratio between the risk of illness in a group that is treated and the risk of illness in a group that is not treated. These two seperate risks are referred to as absolute risks. So relative risk = absolute risk (intervention group) / absolute risk (placebo group)
