An amateur recording of Carl Friedberg, who studied with Clara Schumann and knew Brahms, performing Brahms' Second Piano Concerto with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Wolfgang Stresemann in 1951. Aged 78 at the time of the performance, Friedberg plays with enviable power, authority, and dexterity, despite a memory lapse in the opening of the first movement. His dynamic range is impressively broad, and he phrases expansively with long melodic lines. The photograph included with this video was taken at this concert.
