Today marks the first anniversary of the Battle in El-Adde, Somalia, where an unknown number of Kenyan troops were ambushed by al-Shabaab militants in a dawn attack.
It led to one of the heaviest defeats in modern peace operations and the exact number of casualties was never revealed. It remains a scar that continues to hurt the families of the soldiers who died in the attack.
