German's don't need cars, and here's why. Yes, Germans are known for BMW, Mercedes, Audi, but in most cities in Germany people prefer bikes! Germans love to cycle and don't do it just for fun - they use bicycles to do EVERYTHING, including carrying...wood. Berlin has bike highways, free bike repair stations throughout the city and the Germans use their bikes many times as you would a car in the USA.
