Top Gear (SNES) Playthrough

A playthrough of Kemco's 1992 racing game for the Super Nintendo, Top Gear.

This video shows the entire game played through on the championship level.

I see no reason to mince words here: I love Top Gear. In my humble opinion, Top Gear sits among the best 2D arcade-style racers ever made.

It's one of those games where everything clicks together in all the right ways, and the resulting magic is so much greater than the sum of its parts. It's easy to pick up and hard to put down, it's fast, it controls like a dream, and I'm quite certain that - like it has for the past thirty-two years - the soundtrack will continue to live on in my head until the day I die.

The Lotus games were celebrated mainstays of the Amiga library, and Top Gear inherited their best qualities while cranking everything up to eleven. I think it's just as fun now as it was back in the 90s, and I know I'm not alone in that opinion! 👋 🇧🇷
