It is a cause for double celebration as this year marks 25 years of the leadership of NCPA Chairman Mr. Khushroo N. Suntook, while his recent election to the Executive Committee of the Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres is a testament to the significant role of the NCPA in representing India on the world stage.
In the year 2000, after an illustrious career spanning over four decades in business, initially as one of the founders of India's first mineral water company, Bisleri, and later in various senior capacities in the Tata Group, Mr. Khushroo N. Suntook was invited to lead the NCPA by its visionary founder Dr Jamshed Bhabha. He was certain that the institution would attain new heights under his friend and colleague at Bombay House, who had nurtured his abiding passion for the arts and vast knowledge of classical music throughout his professional life. That 25 years later, Mr. Suntook was venerated amidst a thousand concertgoers who had gathered to listen to India's first professional symphony orchestra founded by him at the NCPA, which now presents over 600 programmes a year, is a testament to the prescience.
