Target Audience
This activity is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and allied health professionals in the practice of pediatrics, primary care, neurosurgery, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and orthopedic surgery.

Statement of Need
About 500,000 children under age 18 in the United States currently have cerebral palsy, according to United Cerebral Palsy. A goal of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation is its Early Detection Initiative, which has reduced the age of detection from 2 years to 10 ½ months in its network. Earlier detection leads to earlier therapies and interventions, resulting in better long-term outcomes. This program will recognize the importance of early detection and provide clinicians the tools to recognize symptoms for early diagnosis as well as discuss the latest treatment options and strategies of
the multidisciplinary team. Highlighting excellence in care, better patient outcomes will be achieved.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
1) Review definition of cerebral palsy.
2) Review general role of physical therapists in health care system.
3) Review ICF Model.
4) Review common impairments seen in patients with cerebral palsy.
5) Discuss common physical therapy assessment and treatment tools based on patient impairments.
6) Discuss assessment and intervention techniques to address activity limitations and participation restrictions in patients with cerebral palsy.
