As fire was ripping through parts of Roleystone, Kelmscott and Bedfordale, residents were frantically preparing their properties ahead of the fire front. Authorities were urging land owners to be prepared by removing rubbish, having a hazard separation zone around their homes and reducing fuels.
Fast forward to 2024 and the message is still the same.
We live in one of the highest bushfire risk areas of the state but land owners are reluctant to reduce the readily available fuels which drives these fires.
Surely after 30 years we would have got the message???
