देश का सबसे बड़ा विपक्षी दल इस समय भारतीय राजनीति से नदारद दिख रही है। कांग्रेस जितनी काग़ज़ पर दिख रही है उतनी ज़मीन पर नहीं । उसके पैर के नीचे से ज़मीन लगातार खिसकती जा रही है। पूरे देश में केवल तीन राज्यों में उसकी सरकार है। वह भी कब तक टिकेगी पता नहीं । पिछले आठ दशकों में कांग्रेस पार्टी ने कोई आंदोलन नहीं चलाया है। हाँ जितने आंदोलन शुरू करने की उसने घोषणा की है उतनी किसी और पार्टी ने नहीं की है। पर उसका कोई आंदोलन सफल होना तो बहुत दूर की बात है वह शुरू नहीं हो पाता। यही हाल पार्टी के ताज़ा मनरेगा विरोधी आंदोलन का हो रहा है। पर कांग्रेस नेतृत्व पर इसका कोई प्रभाव पड़ रहा हो ऐसा दिखाई नहीं देता।
