In this video, I go through what a polariscope is, and how to use it with a specific type of gemstone. You will see me go through testing a yellow gemstone through the cross polarized filters using the glass sphere provided with the gemological tool the Polariscope. Using the“magic “sphere looking for an optic figure. Looking for an optic figure can be very difficult, so take your time and look all around the gemstone. Things to look for are spectral colors. When you find the spectral colors, use the glass sphere place it over the spectral colors area, then you’ll be able to find the optic character. In this case we saw a bull’s-eye, which is representative of a Uni axial optic character, which in this case only is seen in quartz. I might add that synthetic quartz is also possible.
Well, thank you for watching. If you have any questions or need any gemstone needs here for you! My name is David Homsy a graduate just through the Gemological Institute of America.
