The security situation in Mandera has improved considerably since the war against Al -- Shabaab began. A situation that is largely attributed to the liberation of Bulahawa town at the Kenya Somali border, once an Al Shabaab stronghold. Some towns South of Mandera however still fear periodic attacks from the militants, who sometimes cross the border. Our senior reporter, Sylvia Chebet has just returned from the border town with this report.
