In this episode, we are joined by Sun Kim, MD, MS, Associate Professor Medicine - Endocrinology, specializing in the management of type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and obesity. PCOS affects an estimated 8–13% of women of reproductive age and is leading factor in infertility. Dr. Kim will review the diagnostic criteria for PCOS and discuss the contributing factors associated with this condition. We will review the various manifestations and comorbidities that accompany PCOS. During the discussion, Dr. Kim will cover topics including the impact of insulin resistance, the role of lifestyle modifications, available treatment approaches, fertility interventions, and indications for specialty care for patients with PCOS.
