We were honored to host 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐅. 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧, Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art (NMAA), in conversation with 𝐃𝐫. 𝐇𝐞 𝐉𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐢 of the Bei Shan Tang Foundation. Their insightful dialogue explored the evolving role of national museums in the digital age, highlighting transparency, ethical collecting, and cultural relevance.
A highlight of the discussion was the recent 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐙𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐮 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐬, China’s oldest known silk books, dating back to 300 BC. After nearly 80 years abroad, Volumes II & III were officially returned to Beijing from the NMAA, marking a historic moment in cultural diplomacy.
This event reflects Asia Society Hong Kong Center’s commitment to advancing dialogue around arts, heritage, and global engagement.
