Hello everyone,
I don't know if I'll get a real gingerbread house made this year but I'm happy I made a few of these mini versions - they're simple and quick and made from recycled and household materials. They would be perfect for dolls and dollhouses or any miniature setting or they could be added to a cotton sculpted mouse or bird or you could make a tiny gingerbread village. They're also lovely for a gift topper.
If you have some spicy essential oils like cinnamon or clove, I recommend adding a few drops to your cornstarch mix or your glue mix, it will add to the festive atmosphere as you create and make the ornament smell good - at least for a while :)
you can find the starch video here: • This gloop is magic for spun cotton ✨️ lea...
Hope you're having a lovely holiday season and making some good things and good memories. Thanks for all your support and kindness this past year.
Wishing you happy making!

06:53 - making the foil shape
07:51 - adding tape if needed
08:28 - cutting out the cardboard (or fiberboard or thick paper) for walls and roof and gluing on
11:50 - options for the roof and applying the starch and cotton fiber (you can use glue mix in place of starch - if you're using school glue, it's one part glue to four parts water)
14:22 - discussing drying
17:02 - beginning to paint - demonstrating with coffee and watercolor (I recommend painting dry rather than while the fiber is wet)
20:26 - painting detail with white acrylic paint (I recommend watering it down to make it more liquid)
25:18 - looking at the coffee painted house I painted while wet (so you can see how coffee looks and how it can bleed into the roof if painted wet)
26:46 - painting white details on a few more houses
