Part 2 - Growth Update -    • Dutch Bucket Nutrient Drip System No Pump ...  

I had been growing hydroponics using Kratky method. I love the Kratky being simple, less complex and most of all less cost since it does not require any electricity specially if you are growing outdoor. I'd like to upgrade to Dutch bucket system however this system require electricity to recirculate the nutrients. Since, I am more focus on an economical approach. I like to build a similar system with less cost associated with it. This hydroponic bucket drip system does not need a pump nor power so no electricity consumption will occur. The nutrient flow is through gravity feed system. A little effort you may need to do after 3-7days depending on the size of your reservoir. The nutrient solution need to be transferred back to the main reservoir since this is not a recirculating system. My hope is to make this a free flow system through siphon method. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome & much appreciated.

**(Budget $50) Most of the materials were purchased at dollar store & from a 50% Bargain store

Materials Used:
6 pcs - 2 gallon dollar tree bucket
6 pcs - dollar tree plates for cover (optional - I use this since perlite is white, this will prevent the algae growth and a little insulation too)
27 gallon or bigger much better - Reservoir
18 gallon or same size of the reservoir - Drain reservoir *** UPDATE - if you do a daily garden visit and don't mind pouring the drain nutrients 1-2gallon bucket will work. Overnight drain collect up to 1 gallon.
1 pc - 5ft PVC 3/4
3 pcs - 5" PVC 3/4
3 pcs - 2 1/2" PVC 3/4
3 pcs - 90 degree street elbow pipe fittings
1 pc - end cap 3/4
1 pc - Socket PVC Ball valve inline 3/4"
1 can PVC cement/sealant ** UPDATE - this did not work well some of the bucket had some leaks. I suggest use grommets or waterproof sealant)
3 pcs - 2 way barb tee 1/4"
2-3ft - Drip irrigation tubing 1/4"
3 pcs - 0.5 GPH Button Dripper
1 pc - 5ft PVC pipe 1 1/2" (Inflow drainage)
1 pc - End cap 1 1/2"
Teflon tape
Mesh/net
