LEGO NINJAGO The Ride is an interactive dark ride that has been placed in various Legoland theme parks: Legoland Billund, Legoland Windsor, Legoland Deutschland, Legoland Malaysia, Legoland Florida and Legoland California. The dark ride is all about the LEGO theme set LEGO Ninjago. The interactive dark ride is in 3D and the first interactive dark ride where no laser guns are used, but visitors have to use their hands. By making throwing movements near the 3D screens, you can see on the screens that balls are being thrown. The goal is to score as many points as possible by throwing against LEGO characters. The vehicles contain sensors that register the hand and arm movements of the passengers. The first version of the attraction opened in the spring of 2016 in Legoland Billund, Malaysia and California (May 5, 2016). Legoland Florida followed by opening its doors on January 12, 2017. The attraction opened in the other parks in 2017.

In 1916, Ole Kirk Christiansen started a woodworking shop in the Danish city of Billund. He mainly built furniture for farmers in the area. In 1932, Christiansen started manufacturing wooden toys and the name LEGO came into use. From 1947 onwards, Christiansen started making his toys from plastic. Ultimately, this gave birth to the LEGO block as we know it in 2022. Christiansen died in 1958. One of his sons, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, took over the LEGO company in 1957. In the 1960s, Godtfried Kirk came up with the idea of ​​exhibiting LEGO products in an 'open-air window'. The factory itself attracted 20,000 visitors every year. After a visit to the Dutch park Madurodam, the idea for building Legoland became more concrete. A piece of land of 5.7 hectares was purchased next to the LEGO factory.

Finally, Legoland opened on June 7, 1968, with the main attraction being Miniland, which in 2022 can be found in every Legoland park in the world. Other early attractions were: the traffic garden, safari ride, steam train and the Indian village, all of which can still be found in the park. The park attracted 625,000 visitors in its first year.

This onride video was made with special permission from the LEGOland Billund park. On-ride filming in this park is not allowed for a normal visitor, so do not try this yourself.
