Hey guys, it's Miss Chevious! In this episode I take you to exotic Vientiane, Laos to see the Patuxay, or Victory Gate. This monument began construction in 1957 and is still no yet complete! It was built to be a monument to the Soldiers of World War II and the War for Independence from France. There are so many interesting facts about this landmark that has become a symbol of the city of Vientiane. The designer was only paid the equivalent of $1.38 for his design! Also, while it may look like the Arc De Triumphe in Paris, the French had no part in its construction. In fact, it was the United States of America that paid for the construction and the cement used was originally meant to be used for an airport! If you visit Vientiane this is a great spot to view the city from before moving on to your next historical or shopping destination in the capitol city. I really hope you guys like my videos and I appreciate your support so much as I move towards my goal of 1000 subscribers!
