The Queen of the Tetons, Grizzly Bear 399, was struck by a vehicle today. At 28 years old, the famous bear didn’t deserve this ending.

She was a legacy, a symbol of freedom and why protecting our natural areas and habitat is so important. The parks are getting so crowded with people disregarding any sense of safety with wildlife. This is why wildlife crossings are an absolute must. Prayers that her yearling cub, Spirit, makes it to the den safely.

She was an icon and a legend and showed a window into the intelligence and emotions of wild animals. She showed people to believe in the power of animals and their ability to care for family and have empathy.
