Jasmin Chahal - A Mental health Battle through her PhD - Vision of Representation

Jasmin received her Ph.D. from the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University. Jasmin has struggled many years with severe depression and anxiety, especially during grad school, though, her passion for education and science allowed her to persevere and get the help needed to complete her degree. During her graduate studies, she worked with the McGill’s Let’s Talk Science (LTS) to educate the general public about different scientific concepts. Jasmin decided to bring awareness to science and mental health by competing in Miss Canada in 2020. By placing as 1st runner-up at the pageant, Jasmin continued to bring science and mental health awareness to the forefront. She is now a faculty member at McGill and teaches over 300 students and she has continued to work with LTS and mental health awareness.

"Vision of Representation" is a documentary series by student filmmaker, Stephanie Hubert. She has created this platform in order to tell people's stories. She believes that sharing stories helps others understand and become more informed, which allows for growth and less judgment.
