Within the Chapel of Saint Vartan (lower level of the church of the holy sepulchre) there is an ancient inscription of a boat dated back to around year 330AD which makes it the most ancient pilgrim inscription to commemorate the pilgrimage to the site of the crucifixion of Jesus.
The entrance to the chapel of Saint Vartan is through the chapel of Saint Helena which is also called by the Armenian the chapel of Saint Gregory. The entrance is closed most of the time but is open on special occasions.
