Meet our Scientist – Journey of Leo Poon 我們的科學家 – 潘烈文

Professor Leo Poon, whose story began in Hong Kong, is an internationally renowned expert currently at the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Within 6 days after China released the genomic sequence of the virus in early January 2020, he led his team to develop the first molecular testing kits within six days. These kits were among the first to be developed globally, enabling Hong Kong to diagnose and treat patients at an early stage.

His expertise is globally recognised and currently serves as an advisor with several international organisations, including the WHO, to advise on infectious disease control.
