Smash Mouth - Walkin' On the Sun (Improv Drum Cover)

Sometimes you just need to sit down and play your drums...

No goals, no plans on playing anything specific, just sitting down and having some fun on your instrument. That's exactly what I did for this cover of "Walkin' On the Sun" by Smash Mouth.

I think it can be great to hod oneself to a high standard, but lately I've been taking that way too far into perfectionism territory, which has been crippling for posting to YouTube consistently.

My intent with this one was to make a video from start to finish in just a few hours, with no fancy editing or angles, lighting, samples, or anything else. One take, one angle. Just hitting record, sitting down, and playing some drums. I ended up having a ton of fun with this one, and it was so nice to just play!

Even though I was shooting for "good enough", I think this video looks and sounds great! There's a couple performance hiccups here and there, but for the most part it's in time and I got some cool fills out. Definitely a confidence booster for me in my drumming ability without the need for insane amounts of post-production "makeup".
