Ever since I did my Steam Driving “Gold Course” at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. I wanted to have a go at driving a British Rail Class 55 “Deltic”. So when I saw that you could do a Deltic Driver Experience. I kept an eye out for when they are available! Originally, I had planned to do it as a special birthday treat but then COVID-19 happened and I had to delay it until they can do when it was safe to do it. So when the Great Central Railway said that they were doing the Deltic Driver Experience, I took the opportunity and booked a slot!

It was one of the most challenging and brilliant driving experience that I had! Out of this World!

It doesn’t feel real that I have drove a Deltic!

Doing it at the Great Central made it even more magical as it felt like you were driving on the Main Line with trains passing by!

A huge thank you to the volunteers at Great Central, the Deltic Preservation Society and everyone who was involved with the Deltic Driver Experience for making a day to remember for years to come! As well as making one of my dreams come true! Another bucket list done!
