Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 'Verde York': Straight Pipe Exhaust Sound, Intake Noise & More!

Some days ago I spent the afternoon with this special Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione. The 'Evo' was built as the final homologation version for Lancia Rally Team to further reiterate the supremacy in the World Rally Championship. These successes were celebrated with a series of special limited editions, each showcasing a unique colour and interior trim.

Unveiled in 1991 the Evoluzione was powered by a 16 valves non-catalysed 2.0-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 210 hp. The one you see in this video is called 'Verde York' and it was released in the summer of 1992 with a distinctive dark green finishing and cream leather upholstery. It was based on the standard Evoluzione but offered with 2 different engine variants: the 16 valves engine of the base Evo or a 8 valve variant with catalytic converter. Around 500 examples were built. There was also a third version sold in 1994 after the insistence of French importers who wanted a 16v 'Verde York' but with a catalytic converter, so a small series of cars equipped with the dark green colour on a 'Evoluzione 2' base was made (22 examples).

The one you see in this video is not a 100% stock Verde York but it features 17'' Speedline Corse Montecarlo wheels and some mods to the 16v engine which increased the total power to around 300 hp. Hear the typical raw and cawing sound the 2.0-litre engine produces with a fully straight piped exhaust plus the lovely turbo's puffs recorded with a microphone I placed near the air filter!
