“Her Last Dawn”
In the hush before the morning,
When the window holds the sky,
She counts the breaths like petals,
Learning softly how to say goodbye.
The room is pale with quiet,
But her thoughts are full of light—
Threads of all her yesterdays
Woven through the coming night.
She feels the world grow lighter,
As if sorrow’s weight is thinning,
And every tear she’s ever shed
Is suddenly a kind of winning.
She thinks of fields she wandered,
Of laughter left in empty halls,
Of faces pressed into her memory
Like handprints on eternal walls.
She wonders if the soul grows wings
Or simply learns to fall with grace;
If God will meet her gently
With recognition in His face.
And though her body trembles,
Her spirit learns release—
She folds her fears like fragile clothes
And packs them into peace.
The last dawn warms her eyelids,
A tender, golden flame,
And she whispers to the silence
That she’s finally not afraid.
For somewhere past the shadows,
Where suffering cannot stay,
She feels a presence calling—
And she knows she’ll find her way.
