In this week's photography tutorial I explain why my high expectations and excitement about shooting street photography in Paris resulted in me feeling underwhelmed and uninspired when I needed to perform at my best. I show my photowalk with my Leica Q3 43 in Paris, explaining the ideas and compositions I look for, how I use my exposure and camera settings to get high contrast black and white scenes and how I use shutter speeds for creative effects.
I also discuss the important of being critical of your work and how planning and research can help you get much more from your photo trips. Don't be like me, put in some effort in your planning and you'll get much better results.
Many of these photos are shown as straight-out-of camera jpegs using the Leica Chrome look. Others I have edited in Lightroom, either by converting to black and white, or using other colour tones as well as removing distracting objects or people from the scene.
