Every car manufacturer outsources certain parts, and in the case with the window regulators on most Tesla models it went to Inteva Products.
The issue with their design and cause for most defective Tesla window regulators, spawns from a small plastic ferrule that's located by the central reel housing.
This video addresses what appears to be a weak part in the Tesla Window Regulator, made by a well known supplier, Inteva, causing elevated warranty replacements. Oddly, this company invented the first-ever window regulator in 1917, allowing drivers to raise or lower windows while driving.
By 1924, they replaced certain wood components in their regulators with newly developed plastics and rubber, and seem to have been stuck since then with a plastic ferrule design in the window regulators supplied to Tesla, that appears to be the weak link creating failures.
Our video describes our insertion of a billet aluminum ferrule version, replacing the failure prone plastic of this part, and improving reliability.
