Baeknyaki Oreum 백약이 오름

"Baeknyaki Oreum" [백약이 오름]
백약이오름은 둥글넓적한 굼부리[분화구]를 갖춘 원뿔 모양의 산이다.
백약이오름의 총면적은 약 581,463㎡이며, 둘레 3,124m, 높이 356.9m이다. 백약이오름은 오름 군락지인 송당 산간에 있는 데다가, 도로변 가까이에 있어서 일반인과 관광객들이 자주 찾는 오름 중의 하나이다.
또한 백약이오름 기슭에는 삼나무가 조림된 숲이 있고, 그 외 사면에는 개량 초지 등으로 된 풀밭을 이루고 있으며, 보통 제주 한라산과 북한 지역에서만 자란다는 피뿌리풀이 듬성듬성 자생하고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.
오름 안에는 약용으로 쓰이는 복분자딸기와 층층이꽃·향유·쑥·방아풀·꿀풀·쇠무릎·초피나무·인동덩굴 등과 같은 약초가 산재해 있다. [한국향토문화전자대전]
