Before you teach the “moves” of the kata, your students need to care about it. Put them into that situation by giving them a believable context.
Nothing fancy - just help them imagine that the situation at hand COULD happen to A person.
🤔 By allowing them to imagine they could be that person, they pay more attetion. That’s it.
Ideally, you'll ask them about what they think might be some plausible solutions. Please validate any idea they suggest - you want them to feel empowered and confident in your classes, so they can explore and learn faster.
You’ll notice we do exactly that in this video:
We ask you to image that you could be in front of a class to teach a kata, and that’s the whole lesson.
