My 60W 808nm diode laser burns some rocks. Some black shiny material resembling obsidian is formed. Iron Pyrites are reduced to iron by the laser beam, accompanied by the stench of sulphur. Some 1/2" thick Corian marble countertop gets a hole drilled through it. Just to liven things up, some glass breaks and a laser lens explodes.
