Belgium to Bonn Timelapse Road Trip

Discover what the drive across Belgium and Germany’s industrial heartland looks like from Brussels to Bonn. Throughout the trip, we set off West of Brussels in Flemish Brabant and then make our way across the nation through major cities like Nivelles, Charleroi, Namur and Liège — all parts of French-speaking Belgium. A particularity of the drive includes driving through German-speaking Belgium, a small area making up less than 1% of the country’s population and includes cities like Eupen.

Once in Germany, we drove through Aachen at autobahn speeds and drove past one of the largest open-pit coal mines in the whole world visible from space. The landscape is littered with industry from mining to refining, and from windmills to warehouses — this part of Germany is certainly an industrial powerhouse and you will see that throughout the video.

Finally we arrive near Cologne and Bonn and enjoy a calmer drive through luscious and fertile rolling hills by the Rhine River valley.
