A cycle ride to the waterfalls in Powys at the top of the Neath Valley. Sometimes known locally as the Gylnneath Waterfalls or Waterfall Country though nearer the village of Pontneddfechan, this ride visits two of the waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.
There is a lot of riding in the first half of this film along the disused Neath and Tennant Canal. The cycle route mostly follows along the base of the Neath Valley and so it is a pleasant easy ride. The second half of the ride to the waterfalls was quite challenging for me. With quite a bit of bike carrying up the steep climb of the rocky ridge and some gnarly rocky trails, in some places quite steep, especially descending the side of the ridge down to the second waterfall.
In this ride we visit the smaller waterfall on the Pwll y Berw river near the lower visitors carpark and later the large Sgwd yr Eira Waterfall.
Cycle-trekking the waterfalls does take some effort and confidence but it can be hiked if preferred. There are a number of other waterfalls to visit which I will visit some time in a future film.
