An explosion and fire at a pharmaceutical factory in India’s southern state of Telangana killed at least 36 people and injured several others on June 30, 2025. Officials said firefighters recovered the bodies of 10 workers inside the Sigachi Industries pharmaceutical unit and two other workers succumbed to burns. Nearly three dozen injured workers have been admitted to hospitals, while others were still trapped at the site. The explosion reportedly originated from a spray dryer unit used to process raw material into fine powder for making drugs at the factory.
