Drum Major Ian Essen leads Ballater Pipe Band playing Cabar Feidh as they marched into Tomintoul before the 2025 Tomintoul Highland Games. These were held on Saturday 19th July 2025 and Ballater was one of 3 bands marching and entertaining the crowds in the morning before the Games.
The band, led by Pipe Major Scott Hector, then marched on the Green in the centre of Tomintoul playing the tunes Shores of loch bee, Battle of Waterloo and 51st Highland Division at Wadi Akarit.
The Tomintoul and Strathavon Highland Games have been held for over 180 years and are always on the 3rd Saturday in July. The village of Tomintoul lays claim to the title of ‘the Highlands’ highest town’ at 354m, or or 1,160ft, situated high up in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland,
