Sunlight Road of the Sunlight Basin is in the Shoshone National Forest residing in the Absaroka Mountain Range in Wyoming. It’s a a beautiful, family friendly, sometimes rough road that surrounds you with wilderness as you push further into the mountains. During conditions like in this video, we did not need 4WD but I would recommend higher clearance for water crossings and larger rocks that might unexpectedly be come upon given the rocky cliffs that hug the valley.
This is bear country so be mindful and keep attractants sealed up after you stop for lunch and please take what you brought with you, if not more. Seeing trash around scenery like this is a shame and we don’t want to give anyone a reason to close it off to motorized traffic, or worse, in the future.
If you’re looking for that vibe of what it was like as a 19th century prospector you need to visit & explore the Absaroka Wilderness!
