It’s been said that being in a band is like being in a family. For Ross and Rocky Lynch, it’s a literal fact. Prior to forming The Driver Era, the brothers were part of the teen pop-rock band R5, which included their siblings Riker and Rydel. Together, the four Cali bros dropped Billboard-charting albums and toured the world. When the sun went down on that era in 2018, The Driver Era began. Debut single “Preacher Man” checked off the duo's first order of business: establish a grittier sound steeped in bolder production. More than 30 million Spotify streams to date of “Preacher Man” indicate a successful pivot. 2019's ‘X’ debut further highlights the group's willingness to push creative boundaries. Introspection marks "Low" and "Afterglow,” while "Feel You Now" and "Scared of Heights" spotlight their flair for upbeat anthems. R&B, new wave, and funk are all in play on the ‘Girlfriend’ album from a couple years back. This February's “Get Of My Phone” cashes in on the previously laid groundwork. Ross plays the dude with a broken heart, his distorted vocals underscoring blurry emotions. Fans have been screaming along to it at stops on the X Girlfriend tour (that cheeky title means they’re serious about pushing things forward). The Vevo fam and Lynch fam united in the middle of the guys' US tour. The Euro leg begins in September. In the meantime, here's your live fix for the summer.
