This is Dirt Bike Magazine’s 2026 450 MX SHOOTOUT and yes, it is the largest shootout ever. As it happens, there are more 450 motocross bikes available in the U.S. than ever before. We have 12 bikes to sort out.

We’ve heard people say it’s impossible to test this many bikes in one day. That’s absolutely correct. We wouldn't even try. This is a project days, weeks and months in the making. In some cases, we’ve been riding these bikes for over a year. Five of them are completely unchanged from last year’s 450 shootout. Four have mechanical changes while only three are new models to us.

Before ranking them, we had to settle on methodology and priorities. We left the bikes as delivered. This year we have provided ratings in 10 key areas, 1 to 5 stars.
