It was dubbed “Liberation Day” in the United States. It was a pivotal moment for Australia and our election.
Donald Trump’s trade tariffs have tanked stock markets and angered world leaders. Australian exports to the US face a 10 per cent tax. Tariffs levelled on some of our biggest trading partners are much higher.
Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton are arguing who’s best to stand up to Trump – and manage the seismic economic ramifications. Yet it’s everyday costs of living – housing, energy bills, healthcare, groceries – still occupying most Australian minds.
Who do you trust to lead the country in an increasingly unstable world? Who has the solutions on transport, housing, health, education and Trump-proofing Australia’s fragile economy? What will make a difference to your life?
Q+A headed to Casula in Sydney’s outer south-west, a vibrant and diverse political battleground and epicentre for the biggest challenges facing the nation.
This episode was broadcasted on April 7, 2025.
Panellists: Minister for Emergency Management of Australia Jenny McAllister, Shadow Assistant Minister for Home Ownership Andrew Bragg. Greens Spokesperson on Housing & Homelessness Max Chandler-Mather, Social researcher & youth affairs advocate Angelica Ojinnaka-Psillakis and Journalist & broadcaster Marc Fennell

Q+A is a television discussion program that focuses mostly on politics but ranges across all of the big issues that set Australians thinking, talking and debating.
It is driven by interaction: Q+A provides a rare opportunity for Australian citizens to directly question and hold to account politicians and key opinion leaders in a national public forum and Q+A is broadcast live so that not only the studio audience but also the wider audience can get involved.
We aim to create a discussion that is constructive, that reflects a diverse range of views and that provides a safe environment where people can respectfully discuss their differences.
It’s impossible to represent every view on a single panel or in one audience but we’re committed to giving participants a fair go.
In order to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, the program is presented from a range of locations around the country and all Australians are encouraged to get involved through social media as well as by joining the audience.
This is an official Australian Broadcasting Corporation YouTube channel.
