In 1966 the Misja Mengelberg Kwartet played the Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island. This recording was made around that time at the studios of Radio Netherlands Worldwide in Hilversum, The Netherlands. This is a Misja Mengelberg ballad called Peer's Counting Song.
Misja Mengelberg (piano), Piet Noordijk (alto sax), Rob Langereis (bass) and Han Bennink (drums).
I found this recording in the archives. Both the music and the recording are sublime.
