The ATRO difference is our expertise in designing and developing custom polyurethanes to build better heavy truck parts. Not just any polyurethane – we design and build for the exact purpose of the job, and always produce a part that is stronger, more durable, and longer-lasting.

There are probably 5,000 different kinds of “off-the-shelf” urethanes on the market. We found the “off-the-shelf” doesn’t get the job done. So, we design and engineer our own custom polyurethane formulas. That’s the difference that makes the difference in ATRO products – our design and engineering expertise to create the right polyurethane material formula for each part type and the job that part does.

We look at the vehicle, at the application, and we design a better part that meets or exceeds the OEM specifications. The tools that we have are always evolving. We’re always maintaining state-of-the-art in our process, design, and our plant operations.

We find out what our customers are looking for, what their problems are, and then apply the advantages and benefits of polyurethane. We use CAD modeling and finite element analysis to determine loads and stresses on the parts. We run conformance tests on every lot of polyurethane that we produce, including tensile strength, tear strength, and elongation (how long the material will stretch before it breaks).

Until we founded ATRO in 1987, no one was able to provide a polyurethane product because the “off-the-shelf” urethanes just didn't hold up. Matter of fact, we got into the business using "off-the-shelf" items, and that was one of the first things that we changed and improved by engineering our own custom formulas.

There are five different ingredients to make polyurethane. And if you adjust any of those five, you get different physical properties, and we’re experts at that. ATRO parts normally last three to five times longer than rubber, sometimes 10 times longer than rubber.
