The Sayau Kadayan or better known as Sayau Moginum is performed by the Dusun Tatana ethnic group in Kuala Penyu (in Southwest of Sabah, Malaysia). Sayau Moginum is performed during ritual ceremony and celebrations such as Kaamatan (Harvest Festival) and wedding. The most unique identity of Dusun Tatana tribe is they are the descendants of Chinese. Until today, they still celebrate Chinese New Year like their Chinese ancestors.
The dance is led by a male dancer known as 'Pengalai', accompanied by several female dancers who perform the 'sinsid,' a distinctive foot movement. Usually, one or more male dancers act as "Ponyinggarung" would go into the circle to serve traditional drinks to the male dancer in the centre. The dance group performed in this video is Limbai Karamaian Kelampun.
