The Upper Silesian Tram System is just HUGE! | Tramwaje Konurbacji Śląskiej | Urban Transport #41

This video will describe the huge interurban tram system of Upper Silesia, which is amongst the world's top 10 largest tram systems. Spanning across cities like Katowice, Bytom, Sosnowiec, and Zabrze, the system is the key to mobility in Poland's largest metropolitan area. The system is one of the few surviving interurban systems in Europe. It has faced various struggles throughout its history and has been part of 2 countries (even at the same time during the Interbellum!). The tram fleet is very diverse, due to the network's diversity. The fleet therefore included 75-year-old bi-directional Konstal N's, as well as modern types like Moderus Beta and Pesa Twist. There are some single-track (almost rural) lines, as well as trunk routes connecting the larger cities in the region.
