We begin today's video with a massive fire that erupted at the Strandfoam industrial site in Strand in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, today. The fire started in a storage area and spread amid strong winds, prompting an extensive emergency response that lasted into the early hours of today. Firefighters contained the blaze using compressed air foam systems despite interference from a hostile crowd throwing stones, with no injuries reported. The fire around Franschhoek is staring to get under control by firefighting teams. The Augrabies Falls, today, and also the Berlin Falls and Sabie Falls. The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows:
The northeast of South Africa will see cloudy, mild weather with showers coming and going throughout the day, while light rain brushes parts of the southern Cape and isolated thunderstorms develop over central South Africa and the Northern Cape Province, and fresh to strong winds will whip across the western interior and along the southern and eastern coasts. North-western Limpopo Province should prepare for heavy downpours that could flood low-lying roads, bridges, and settlements, slowing down travel on major routes even if they remain passable. The heat is shifting eastward today with very hot conditions moving into the Eastern Cape Province and KwaZulu-Natal Province while the Northern Cape Province and central regions continue to bake under intense temperatures, and the Central Karoo will be especially brutal with extremely hot and uncomfortable weather. Fire danger remains critically high across central Northern Cape Province, northern Western Cape Province, parts of the Eastern Cape Province, and southern Free State Province where the combination of heat, dry conditions, and wind could turn any spark into a fast-moving blaze.
